Perhaps once in a lifetime estates like "Den Decker" become available. This atmospheric, romantic country house from 1937, with luxury guesthouse, solar panel structure, and an ultra-modern workshop, washing area and showroom is in a dream location, right where Maastricht, Aachen and Liège approach each other.
This imposing estate on a generously sized fenced plot of no less than 7.5 hectares has a beautiful location on the edge of the Limbrichter forest and, by virtue of its original and historical character, takes advantage of the fiscally attractive NSW status (Nature Conservation Act 1928) without any obligation to open up. The property therefore has a unique and guaranteed privacy.
The manor house and both outbuildings are in excellent condition and are equipped with high-quality materials such as copper gutters, baked slates, hardwood window frames. The windows are fitted with insulation glass/renovation glass with front windows and the manor house is insulated. Both outbuildings have also been insulated; no expense has been spared here to approach perfection.

Layout:
- Country house
The manor house is divided over four floors; the basement, ground floor, first and second floor. Respecting the stylistic features of the 1930s, the manor house has been restored and improved with great patience and attention from 2001 onwards, using high-quality original materials such as oak, Namur stone, marble and Farrow & Ball English paint products.
- Basement
In the basement are a wine cellar, bar area, laundry, two storage rooms, hobby room and various rooms serving the technical and heating installation.
- Ground floor
On the ground floor is the inviting entrance to the manor house that connects to the connecting corridor. From this corridor a work/study room and a vestibule with the guest toilet can be reached, among other things. The original wall and floor tiles were preserved during the renovation and reflect well the ambiance in which people have lived on this estate for more than 80 years.
The left wing is used as office/meeting room and consists of three rooms: an attractive meeting room with a beautiful fireplace, a very spacious office room with views over the estate and a practical storage/archive room. Wood-burning stoves, together with the herringbone parquet floor and beautiful colours on the walls, create an inspiring working environment.
The heart of the mansion is formed by the magnificent hall with the large 17th-century historic fireplace, originally from the castle in Born, a beamed ceiling and double doors to the sunny terrace. The beautiful floor forms a tasteful composition with the stucco and the somewhat hidden staircase to the first floor.
From the corridor, you walk through a portal to the attractive kitchen connected to a spacious pantry. This kitchen shows a mix & match of classic and modern elements with a beautiful result. There is space to have breakfast, read the newspaper and (of course) cook. All the necessary modern appliances are built-in with the induction cooker with grill and professional extractor hood being a standout item. The kitchen is connected to an intermediate hall with a large amount of cupboards, hidden behind beautiful panel doors. The pantry functions as a cloakroom and storage room and has a portal with its own entrance and a second toilet room.
There is a living room on the ground floor, divided into a sitting and dining area. Windows on three sides, a double Stûv fireplace, tiles with underfloor heating combined with a herringbone floor are the carefully considered ingredients for optimal living comfort.
- First floor
The beautiful staircase leads to the landing with a tall stained-glass window, stately solid oak doors with matching door frames and herringbone parquet floor. You will see a row of 5 panel doors; 4 of them give access to a storage cupboard, and the middle door connects to a hidden wing of the house with laundry, storage and a bedroom, with bathroom.
This luxurious bathroom is laid out with a bathtub, sink, shower and a dormer window. From the hall, a separate toilet room can be reached as well as an ironing room that can also be used as a dressing room.
On this floor are no fewer than five bedrooms, each with charm and beautiful views of the estate. All bedrooms have parquet flooring and one of the rooms at the rear, has double doors to the balcony. At the rear is the master bedroom with a large wardrobe and a bright bay window. This bedroom has an en suite bathroom fitted with a corner bath, toilet, washbasin, wall-mounted radiator and a luxury shower.
- Second floor
The staircase continues its way to the second floor where the landing gives access to three spacious bedrooms. Here you can create a flat for your au pair or live-in children as you wish. All bedrooms have a dormer window, solid oak flooring and an authentic sink. Also on this floor are two practical storage rooms.
- Garage with guest house
On the property is a detached garage with a guest house, divided between the ground floor and first floor. The guest house has its own entrance giving access to an atmospheric kitchen, equipped with a Stûv wood-burning stove and a bluestone floor. On the first floor is a spacious bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The sloping roof planes, wooden roof construction and solid oak floor are the mood makers in this surprisingly large room. The en-suite bathroom is laid out with a freestanding bathtub, a toilet and a washbasin.
- Hobby room/outbuilding
The second, also largest outbuilding is a multi-purpose room that currently expresses a love for classic cars and youngtimers. The floor area is over 300m2, fitted with underfloor heating and fully insulated. The exterior is finished in Red Cedar and there are facilities such as a washing area, workshop, showroom, recessed lighting, canopy and a toilet.
- Canopy
A large canopy has been built between the garage and the hobby room, fully equipped with solar panels with as much as 32,000 watts of power, enough for a net-zero electricity supply for the entire estate. This canopy is a perfect place to store materials, machinery, a horse trailer or hay and straw.
- Exterior
The entire plot is fenced making this a fantastic location to keep horses. There is a double entrance at the front and an additional entrance at the rear of the property.
There are several water features, meadows, fruit trees, a forest with monumental oaks and beech trees, and a beautiful drained and irrigated garden perfectly suited to the estate. There is ample on-site parking, room to manoeuvre and more than enough outdoor lighting available.
The estate has a beautiful location on the edge of the Limbrichter forest; centrally located between the borough of Born and the village of Limbricht. Both residential areas offer various educational, sports, supermarkets and shopping facilities.
Major employers such as Zuyderland Medical Centre, Nedcar and Chemelot are located at a convenient distance. The A2, A76, A73 and the N297 provide good connections to the Euregio, Maastricht Aachen Airport, Eindhoven Airport and Düsseldorf airport.
This is a place for epicureans, for receiving guests, for combining living with working and for keeping animals. But above all, this is a place to escape the daily hectic where you can fully enjoy nature.
