High architecture meets farmhouse.
The sleek, updated facade still references the original year of construction (1847) and blends nicely into the somewhat subdued buildings of Church Street. Once inside, the interior makes quite a powerful statement: with a height of nearly 11 feet in which a walkway connects the front of the house to the sleeping quarters. With tightly plastered walls surrounding old trusses and rafters that recur throughout the house. With skylights that reveal an ever-changing play of light, lines and surfaces. The concrete floor is a nod to the stable of yesteryear. Gold-colored pivot doors create both a warm and spacious effect.

Perfect dining.
Even pampered foodies can get right to work in this beautifully designed, sturdy kitchen. The back wall starts with a man-sized refrigerator and ends with an equally tall freezer with ice maker. The center includes a coffee corner. The deluxe steam and combination microwave are, of course, from Miele as is the knock-to-open dishwasher. In addition to boiling water, the Quooker also regulates sparkling and chilled water. And thanks to the teppanyaki grill, a drinks or dinner party is never boring. From a wine bar across the street, you pour the finest wines. Or would you prefer an ambient fireplace in that spot?

Rest & relax.
Wherever in the house you move, large glass facades provide contact with nature. The rooms are bathed in light. From the living room, pivot doors give access to a spacious lounge room and on the other side, to a generous gym. Families may prefer a playroom; home workers an office and family caregivers an independent living unit. Anything is possible. The insane walkway leads to the bedroom floor. From the house you can walk straight into nature, take a boat trip on the river IJssel and pick your own fruit. Vistas offer views of sheep with the church tower and an old brick factory in the distance. Mature trees provide picking fruit and an abundant walnut harvest. Veessen is increasingly attracting commuters. Not surprising because everything is there: an elementary school, soccer club, a marina and ... the mill of Bats. From the terrace you have a nice view of the marina. A foot and bike ferry takes you to Fortmond: a beautiful nature reserve with marshes, riparian forests, wild horses, unusual birds and a migratory ferry.
