Bijstein stands for ancient history and commercial spirit. For abundance and contemporary hospitality.
Throughout his life, the last occupant was extremely devoted to this national monument. His dogged perfectionism resulted in the state of repair the stylish estate is in today.

History
The history of this pleasure estate goes back some 400 years. Around the neo-Renaissance-style manor house you will find, among other things, winding loop paths, ponds, a coach house, a tennis court and an English landscape garden. Throughout the centuries, seclusion - like maximum privacy - was always a great thing. Not surprising since the estate has always been privately occupied so far. But it doesn't have to stay that way.

Commercial spirit
The stately entrance between two stepped gables is impressive, especially when you arrive via one of the estate's long driveways. The staircase in the spacious hall adds to this. Paintings, souvenirs and suitcases left behind exude the atmosphere of the VOC and trade travellers. The name of the estate even became a brand under the last occupant - himself a businessman -: you will recognise 'Bijstein' in the linen, on the coat hangers in the wardrobe but especially in the wine cellar. There you will find South African wines from Bijstein Wine Estate, among others. There is also a Nature Reserve in South Africa with the same name. That is no coincidence.

Hospitality
The location and abundance invite you to share with others. For instance, the house has a large, nostalgic, Saartje-style kitchen for staff and a smaller, luxury kitchen for private use. There are vegetable gardens, pheasant runs, stables and orchards. There is own honey and fresh eggs. Perhaps an estate shop combined with a restaurant and hotel function is an attractive proposition. Not for nothing have many well-known, influential Dutch people already been guests. But of course, you can also reserve all this beauty for yourself and your family.

Pleasant living
The sunny conservatory adjoins the drawing room and offers beautiful views over the garden with rose arches, flower beds, dovecote and music dome. The swimming pool provides cooling on hot days. The dining room is - comme il faut - next to the private kitchen. And then there is a study and a whisky room with another fireplace. Generous windows provide plenty of light. On the two floors you will find generous landing areas with twelve elegant bedrooms attached. In the walking forest, behind the meandering pond, it is lovely to relax. There is a rowing boat; a small bridge takes you across if you want to and you can play tennis on your own tennis court.

Nature Conservation Act
The estate is ranked under the 1928 Dutch Natural Beauty Act, which gives you various tax advantages in terms of real estate tax and estate planning, but in particular the ranking offers exemption from transfer tax.
