On either side of the ornately carved, wooden front porch on the facade, the heads of a fox and a boar recall the original function of the monumental country house 'Erve de Hulshorst' on Keppellaan in Lochem.

The property was built around 1812 as the hunting lodge of the castle De Cloese, located a little further away.

When the current owners bought the hunting lodge in 2006, they found a dated house amid a feral garden. Over a period of nine months, they had the hunting lodge renovated from left to right and top to bottom. In the process, the large barn behind the house, the guest house, the garages and the garden were also restored to their optimal condition. The whole place is a true paradise and offers maximum privacy. The simple hunting lodge was transformed into an extremely luxurious and romantic country house with approx. 350 m² of living space, equipped with every comfort. Neither cost nor effort were spared to bring the whole in a more than perfect state while retaining all the authentic elements. The modern, very complete kitchen with adjoining dining room is located at the front of the house. From here, you walk straight to the cosy living room, also with a sturdy fireplace and French doors to the terrace. At the back of the house is a spacious study with French doors to the garden. The entrance to the hall is at the side and there you will also find the handy utility and laundry room, as well as a toilet. Upstairs are two almost identical-sized bedrooms with beamed ceilings and a nice, shared bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. The other side of the staircase is reserved for the beautiful master suite, including a very spacious, bespoke dressing room and a luxurious private bathroom with shower, bidet and toilet.

This historically significant property - a municipal monument - has been almost completely renovated structurally and aesthetically and is therefore in an exceptional state of repair.

'Erve de Hulshorst' is located approximately five minutes cycling distance from the lively centre of Lochem and the NS railway station. The history of this beautiful town dates back to the twelfth century. Its medieval streets and monumental buildings are reminders of its rich history. Lochem offers everything a person needs: nice shops, cosy restaurants, schools from secondary to VMBO and VWO, sports facilities - football, hockey etc. - and one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Netherlands: De Lochemse Golf & Country Club De Graafschap (18 holes), just southwest of the city.
